38 Vehicles Stopped In Belait
Roadblock

Begawan - A total of 38 vehicles were stopped yesterday
morning during a joint roadblock carried out by the Investigation
and Traffic Department of Royal Brunei Police Force and Enforcement
Section at the Land Transport Department (LTD) in Belait district.
From that, a total of 16
foreign-registered vehicles were issued police summons mainly for
illegally tinting their windows. Several vehicles were also further
detained by the Belait Investigation and Traffic Department for
paperwork to be done in light of the issued summonses.
The roadblock was conducted at two
locations, Lumut Seria bypass from 8.30am till 12 noon, and Sungai
Tujoh area from 2pm till about 4.30pm.
The roadblock involved 19 traffic
police and nine LTD officials led by Belait Acting Assistant
Director and Head of Enforcement Unit, Hj Suaib bin Hj Md Taha. The
aim of the joint operation was to curb road accidents and ensure
that foreign-registered vehicles and local road users abide by road
rules and regulations. Out of the 38 vehicles, 20 were issued with
summons for offences including expired licences, suspension
modification or vehicle body sagging, bald tyres and tinted windows.
The remaining vehicles were compoundable cases such as driving with
non-standardised licence plates.
Meanwhile, the Belait LTD focused
on commercial and private vehicles and detained 22 locally
registered vehicles, mainly trucks and vans, for breaching road
traffic rules and regulations including failing to produce the
vehicle's certificate, driving without the speed-warning device,
loading goods in a condition which endangers other road users and
unsatisfactory vehicle conditions.
This is the third joint operation
