CCM Delegation Wraps Up Visit
By Husin HJ
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A four-member delegation from the Cooperative
College of Malaysia (CCM) wrapped up their five-day working visit to
the Sultanate yesterday with a visit to the Royal Regalia building
in the capital.
The delegation was led by Hjh
Hayati Mohd Salleh, Head of CCM's Administration, Law and Leadership
Centre, in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Accompanying her were Shaafie
Said, Director of Sabah's CCM; Jaibit Jaudin, Training executive (Sabah
branch); and Noraesyah Saari from the Research and Consultancy
Centre (Petaling Jaya).
Hjh
Hayati said she was satisfied with the moderate progress of the
cooperative movement in the country and urged cooperative leaders to
work vigorously to promote their business activities to sustain the
economic and social well-being of its members. "There are plenty of
opportunities for Brunei and Malaysia to cooperate especially in
training and research in cooperatives. Education is a continuing
process and must be developed and enhanced in tandem with the rapid
shift of the current business climate," Hjh Hayati said.
"A formal joint collaboration
between CCM and BINA will signal a dawn of new era for Brunei
cooperatives as they will be able to take various courses in
administration, accountancy and leadership in Malaysia," she added.
Previously, only officials from the
Department of Cooperative Development (merged with the Industrial
Unit of MIPR to form BINA in 1996) are eligible to undergo training
in Malaysia, which was sponsored by CCM under the Malaysian
Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) annually. -- Courtesy of Borneo
