Man Held In Sungai Teraban After 450 Cans Of Beer Seized

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 450 cans of Tiger Beer were confiscated by Customs Enforcement Officers in the largest of such seizures to date this month. A 27-year-old-local man was detained in connection with the case.

Ten personnel from the Preventive and Intelligence Division led by the Acting Deputy Superintendent of Customs busted the syndicate smuggling the contraband goods in Kuala Belait following a public tip-off.

In the operation at 4pm on Sunday, the personnel detained the local man at a house in Kg Sungai Teraban in KB and seized 19 cartons containing 330 ml-cans of Tiger Beer. Each carton contained 24 cans.

The suspect was brought to the Customs Office in Kuala Belait for questioning. He was released on bail with a local surety. He will be charged under Section 140 of the Customs Order 2006.

The Customs and Excise Department thanked the public - for the tip-off and advised the people to contact the authorities should they come across any smuggling, storing or selling of contraband items.
