Indonesian Defence Attaché Bids
Farewell

Begawan - After completing his three-year service with the
Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Defence Attaché Col Mulyana
Esa left for home yesterday.
Amongst those present to bid him
farewell were the Indonesian Ambassador, Herijanto Soeprapto,
Commander of Royal Brunei Aimed Forces, Pehin Darn Lailaraja Major
General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi Hj Mohd Yussof, and
Commissioner of Police, Pehin Datu Kerma Setia Dato Paduka Seri
Zainuddin Jalani. Also present were defence attaches from other
diplomatic missions in Brunei, Indonesians residing and working here
and Indonesian embassy officials.
During his service from November
2003 to December 2006, Col Mulyana Esa executed many activities
aimed at increasing military cooperation between the two countries,
including the military exercise between the Indonesian Navy and
Royal Brunei Navy called "Helang Laut a visit by cadets from the
Indonesian Navy Academy along with the training ship "Dewa Ruci" and
the participation of 168 Indonesian military cadets in the Brunei
International Tattoo 2006 (BIT 2006).
The Commander of RBAF noted that
this year alone, he has been awarded three honorary titles from the
Land Force, Navy and Air Force of Indonesia and such honour was
given not solely to him but also honoured the armed forces in
particular and the people of Brunei in general.
The Indonesian ambassador,
meanwhile, hoped that the good cooperation between the armed forces
of the two countries would continue to be upgraded in the future.
He conveyed his thanks to all
parties in the country for the cooperation extended to assist Col
Mulyana in executing his duties efficiently. Col Mulyana will be
succeeded by Col Herawan Adji, who began his three-year service as
the new Indonesian Defence Attache this month.-- Courtesy of Borneo
