Police Operation Nabs Empty Streets In Gadong
By Hadi DP Mahmud

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) led a multi-agency operation in several commercial areas in the capital in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The aim of the security operation was to target youth, amongst others, during the school holiday season, around the Gadong commercial area to deter against criminal activities. Advance teams of undercover officers were sent in first to identify the suspects at the popular area that also attracts the criminal side of society.

But the scene quickly disintegrated into a farce as clearly marked RBPF buses, lumbered slowly into the area, immediately driving the `suspects' away to escape the closing security dragnet, before they could be apprehended.

In the end, the only agency that scored any success was the Land Transport Department that set up temporary roadblocks around Gadong. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
