Fire & Rescue Dept's Operation 'E' Champs

Bandar Seri Begawan - Operation 'E' of the Fire and Rescue Department (Tutong branch) emerged champions again in the department's annual tug-of-war competition finals held on Saturday.

The tug-of-war event was held as part of the department's third annual sports event this year. The competition took place at the Seria Sports Arena.

Nine teams from several Fire and Rescue branches throughout the country competed the whole day for the first place in the competition, Operation `B' Belait branch played host to this year's tug-of-war finals.

Attending as guest of honour at the event was Acting Senior Supt Abdul Azis bin Hj Mohamad, Commanding Officer B' Command.

Operation `B' branch finished runners-up while the second runners-up spot went to Operation `C' branch.

All the teams comprised twelve members each and were divided into two groups - A and B. The competition involved a total of sixteen matches.

Other sporting events organised by the Fire and Rescue Department include volleyball, netball, football, ping-pong, badminton, sepak-takraw. The annual event will culminate in a marathon starting and ending at the Fire and Rescue Headquarters. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
