Kg Katok & Tungku Elect New Ketua Kampong

Bandar Seri Begawan - A former First Warrant Officer of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Awg Hj Ismail bin Hj Rajab, 59, of Kg Katok won a landslide of 199 points in the Ketua Kampong election for the villages of Tungku and Katok, Gadong A yesterday.

The event took place at the school hall of Tungku Primary School, Brunei III. Present at the voting were Dato Paduka Hj Md Yusop bin Bakar, Brunei-Muara District Officer and senior officers of the Brunei-Muara District Office as well as penghulus, ketua kampongs and balloting residents.

A briefing on the rules and regulations of balloting was done by Awg Mohd Hasanmuny bin Bakar.

The other candidate was Awg Hj Tengah bin Hj Abdullah of Kampong Tungku with 86 points. He is 62 years old and was serving as an officer of the Postal Department. Out of the total balloting, five votes were spoilt. The area consists of 2,480 residents from 221 households.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
