HM Sends Congratulatory Message To
King Of Bahrain

Begawan - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Bahraini
King His Majesty King Hamad Isa al-Khalifa and Prime Minister His
Highness Shaikh Khalifa Salman al-Khalifa on the occasion of the
35th national day of the Kingdom of Bahrain today.
In the message to His Majesty King
Hamad Isa al-Khalifa, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with
the warm and friendly relations as well as the deep understanding
shared between Brunei and Bahrain.
His Majesty hoped that the warm
relations between the two countries would be maintained and enhanced
in the future for the benefits of the two countries and their
peoples. His Majesty also prayed that His Majesty the King of
Bahrain would always remain in good health and the people of Bahrain
enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
In a message to His Highness Shaikh
Khalifa Salman alKhalifa, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan
of Brunei Darussalam expressed his satisfaction with the warm
cordial relations between the two countries.
The monarch wished that bilateral
relations would be further enhanced and maintained in the future for
the mutual benefits of both countries.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness
Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
also sent his respects and best wishes to His Majesty King Hamad Isa
al-Khalifa as well as the government and people of Bahrain on their
national day. In a message to His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed
Bin Mohamed al-Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, His
Royal Highness also conveyed his appreciation on the excellent
relations the two countries shared and looked forward to
strengthening the friendship and cooperation in the coming years.
Bahrain, located in the Persian
Gulf, gained independence from the British protection on December
16, 1971. His Majesty King Hamad Isa al-Khalifa pronounced Bahrain
as a constitutional monarchy and changed his status from emir to
king in February 2002.
Bahrain is home to numerous
multinational firms with businesses in the Gulf, whereby 235,108
non-nationals account for part of the total population of 698,585.
Petroleum production and refining output account for about 60 per
cent of Bahrain's exports, and 30 per cent of the country's gross
