Crown Prince Bid Farewell To
Diplomat

Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah,
the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office
consented to receive the outgoing Ambassador of the Islamic Republic
of Iran to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Mr Abbas Talebifar at
Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
His Excellency, 46, was appointed
to serve as Iran's Ambassador to the sultanate on February 3, 2005
the same day His Excellency Pengiran Haji Sahari bin Pengiran Haji
Salleh, the Ambassador of Brunei to the Islamic Republic of Iran
accepted his diplomatic accreditation as His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's personal representative to
the Islamic republic.
His Excellency Mr Abbas was
formerly the Director of Second Department for East Asia and Pacific
in Tehran since January 2002. In February this year, His Majesty the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam sent a
congratulatory message to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on
the auspicious occasion of the National Day of the Islamic Republic
of Iran.
In the message, His Majesty
expressed his satisfaction on the warm and friendly relations and
deep understanding that have been established between the two
nations in which His Majesty hopes would be maintained and enhanced
in the future.
Both nations are members of
international organisations such as the Organisation of Islamic
Conference, United Nations, World Health Organisation and Interpol.
The two countries are also
participants in the Far East and Southern Pacific Games for the
Disabled (Fespic) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the current
15th Asian Games in Doha. Recently, the two nations attended a
Special International Conference on zakat or tithe which was also
held in Kuala Lumpur where the religious ministers from Brunei,
Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore agreed to implement' the
establishment of a tithe organisation.
Iran's capital city of Tehran is
the most populated major city with a population of around 6,758,845
and their official language is Farsi or Persian along with Arabic,
Turkish and English are also used. An interesting place to visit in
Iran is Chogha Zambil to view the largest man-made structure the
