Refurbished RBC's Airport Restaurant Opens

Bandar Seri Begawan - The refurbished Airport Restaurant of Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC) opened its doors to diners on Thursday, which coincided with the Airport Customer Day 2006.

Present to officiate the opening was the Ministerof Communications, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abu Bakar.

Also present were RBC's Chairman, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Abu Bakar bin Pengiran Seri Indera Pengiran Haji Ismail, and RBC's Acting General Manager, Haji Omar Ali bin Haji Mohd Daud, who presented the welcoming speech at the ceremony.

Also present at the event were government officials, ambassadors, banking representatives, travel agents as well as private agencies.

The event also saw the launch of new uniforms for the RBC Airport Restaurant's waiters and waitresses.

The refurbished Airport Restaurant and Coffee Shop can accommodate 220 diners. With the newly fitted marble flooring and wooden wall panels as well as new custom-made chairs, and tables, the decor presents a more comfortable and serene ambience to the restaurant.

New menus for its a la carte and buffet meals have been improved with a wonderful display of buffet stations highlighting international buffet with a carvery station, mouth-watering ice-cream selections, cakes and pastry and many more.

The restaurant's function room - the 'Berakas Room' - which can cater up to 60 diners, is a great venue for private business luncheons, seminars and exclusive dinners. Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd, formerly known as Dairy Farm (B) Sdn Bhd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Brunei Airlines and was incorporated on September 11, 1975.

By 1989, the company officially operated as Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC). The Airport Restaurant and Staff Canteen were first operated at Brunei International Airport in March, 1977. In June, 1986 with the opening of new extensions at the Brunei International Airport, Dairy farm opened its coffee shop and airport canteen.

With the refurbishment of the RBC Airport Restaurant as well as new menus,and new staff uniforms, RBC hopes to welcome more patrons to dine at the restaurant. The RBC Airport Restaurant opens daily from 7am to lam. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
