Attempt To Smuggle Live Chickens Foiled
By Hj MinorAbsah

Bandar Seri Begawan - An attempt to smuggle live chickens through a mouse trail at the Junjungan Limbang border around 6.30am yesterday was foiled by ranger police carrying out routine patrols at the area.

Two baskets containing 60 live chickens, known locally as 'ayam kampong', were confiscated from two foreign nationals, who managed to escape on a motorcycle. However, police stopped and questioned a local couple, aged 37 and 33, who were about to retrieve the smuggled items in their saloon car, which bore no valid road tax.

Ranger police personnel said they heard the chickens clucking, which led them to the smugglers' trail.

They also managed to foil an activity to smuggle petrol out of the country through the mouse trail several weeks ago.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
