Civil Aviation Dept Launches
Customer’s Day

Begawan - The Civil Aviation Department yesterday launched
its Customer's Day at the departure hall of the Brunei International
Airport.
Present at the event were Deputy
Minister of Communication, Dato Paduka Hi Yussof bin Hj Abd Hamid,
senior officers from the Civil Aviation Department and invited
guests.
Attending as the guest of honour
was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin
Hj Apong, Minister of Communications.
In his speech, the guest of honour
said that in accordance to a research done by the International Air
Transport Association (IATA), there is a growth of passengers that
included tourists and transit passengers among regional and
international level. In an advance 20-year plan, the civil aviation
services for the Asean region are expected to develop at 5.5 per
cent a year.
This is exceeding the development
at a 4.8 per cent yearly global level. With that, he highlighted the
importance of proper planning within the tourism industry by
ensuring that the airport will be able to accommodate the growing
demands.
He said that members of the
BIMPEAGA region will sign a memorandum of understanding on widening
air transportation network on giving free transportation rights to
all BIMP-EAGA destinations by 2008, in accordance to the first
meeting of BIMP-EAGA's Ministers of Transportation held in Brunei on
June 5 this year.
After the launching, the guest of
honour was taken for a tour of the exhibition. The seven-day
exhibition is open to members of the public.
The guest of honour also officiated
the unveiling of new uniforms for airport personnel at the event.
The minister also consented to officially launch the new Airport
Restaurant as well as presenting certificates and prizes to the best
counter service officer, best counter service and best commercial
