UBD Delegation Leaves For Asean University Games In Hanoi

Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 50 athletes and officers, representing Universiti Brunei Darussalam's (UBD) contingent, yesterday departed for Hanoi, Vietnam to compete in the 13th Asean University Games from December 16 to 22.

The contingent is being led by the Dean of Student Affairs of UBD, Pengiran Dr Haji Mohammad Pengiran Damit.

There will be 12 different sports events, in which the Brunei contingent will compete in five - badminton, football, karate, pancak silat and track and field.

According to UBD's football team coach, Muhammed Shaahid Cassim, the team has been carrying out intensive training for the past two months in preparation for the event by having friendly football matches with other teams from the Brunei league.

He also said he has confidence in his team to do their best during the games. Their first match starts on December 16 in which they will compete against the contingent from the Republic of the Philippines. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
