By Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 27-year-old permanent resident was sentenced to 14 months in prison by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to stealing two cars two weeks ago.

The court heard that the defendant, Khairul Azmi bin Moksin, and another person went to the vicinity of Port View to steal a Toyota Corona parked in the area. They unlocked the car using a copied key and entered the vehicle.

They then drove to Tutong town where they left the car, the court heard. The defendant and the other person then saw a Toyota Corolla parked not far from where they had left the Toyota Corona, and decided to steal it. They drove back to Bandar.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Hafizah Ahmad said a day later, the owners of the stolen cars lodged a report at the Central Police Station. The police managed to arrest both defendants and the stolen cars were recovered.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
