Boatmen & Commuters Under Scrutiny
By Za'im Zaini & Haji Minor Absah

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Law Enforcement Section, Department of Immigration and National Registration conducted patrols along Brunei waters by using two patrol boats - 'Banteras' and 'Buru' - at the country's entry and exit points yesterday.

The patrols which were part of a series of operations condemned "Ops Berkas 120" involved 12 personnel led by a chief immigration officer from 6am to 11.20am. Inspections were done in the waters off Pulau Chermin to ensure that fisherman who brought goods such as fish into the country had valid documents such as passport as well as other relevant items.

During the operation, a special pass was issued, however no detention was made. The Law Enforcement Section reminded all fishermen to bring along their smart cards and relevant papers to ensure that the inspections run smoothly.

Inspections were also conducted on passenger boats which were on their way to Temburong and Limbang, Sarawak at the Putat border control post.

Patrols were also conducted in Kg Ayer to catch any foreign nationals who were peddling their wares.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
