Bandar Seri Begawan - Forty students from five government secondary schools in Belait District took part in the 'Sayangi Diri' camp organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) with the cooperation from Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Lumut (SMPAPHRSB).

The camp was held at the Mumong sports complex for the first time yesterday morning with the theme 'Menjana Remaja Wawasan".

It is aimed at helping students to have a better understanding of the role they play in their community.

The camp also hopes to give youths an exposure to better equip themselves for future challenges and to produce youths with leadership skills and vision.

Representatives from Royal Brunei Police Force, Prisons Department, Health Department and JAPEM were invited to share their experiences with the participants. Apart from talks, spiritual development is also an important part of the camp's activities. Officials from the Dakwah Islamiah Centre were invited to fill the participants' time with religious activities between Maghrib till Isyak prayers for two consecutive nights.

Mosque officials will guide participants in performing prayers and proper handling of the deceased after performing Subuh prayers.

After the completion of the camp, Belait NCB will hold monthly meeting with the participants to discuss further programmes and activities, involving them in projects to be organised by NCB in Belait secondary schools as well community works in the district. They participants will also be invited to take part in youth activities organised by the Youth and Sports Department.

By organising such a programme, the NCB hopes to achieve maximum results in the implementation of various anti-drug programmes. The camp will end tomorrow afternoon.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
