UK
By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Four government employees were recently awarded the
Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) UK.
The four are Razaimi bin Adam from
the Audit Department, Roslinah bte Hj Abd Karim and Adinawati bte Hj
Perudin from the Road Department of the Public Works Department, and
Helmi Hj Talib from the Ports Department.
The membership that was awarded at
the second level is for individuals who have met the requirements of
the Chartered Professional Review (CPR). Their educational base and
subsequent development have provided them with the ability to lead
teams in developing holistic solutions to engineering problems.
These members also qualify for the Engineering Council ECUK
Chartered Engineer status and can register with ECUK via ICE as CEng.
They may also adopt ICE's own
protected title of Chartered Civil Engineer. A Chartered Engineer (CEng)
has an accredited honours degree in engineering, postgraduate
training and passed a professional review or examination set by the
professional body.
The Institution of Civil Engineers
is a global organisation that exists to promote, and develop civil
engineering.
These engineers have received
training including professional development - during their first few
years at work, and then submitted themselves for a Professional
Review.
The training scheme for Civil
Engineers (ICE) is employed under the Professional Development
Programme (PDP) designed and implemented by the Public Works
Department HRD section to comply with the requirements of a
professional body.-- Courtesy of Borneo
