Baiduri Launches Visa Platinum

Begawan - Baiduri Bank launched its new Visa Platinum Card at
the Member's Lounge of the,Empire Hotel and Country Club, yesterday
morning. Present at the launching ceremony was His Royal Highness
Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister
at the Prime Minister's Office.
Other guests included ministers,
deputy ministers and prominent businesspeople as well as affluent
professionals in the country.
Fitted with the new Visa brand
identity and architecture along with changes in the card design, it
is the first platinum card in Brunei to be based on the latest
(European Mastercard and Visa (EMV) technology.
It is also the first EMV chip card
in Brunei that deploys the dynamic data authentication method an
anti-counterfeiting technology effective to improve the protection
of EMV cards from unauthorised copying, offering cardmembers the
highest level of security.
Already in use by many countries
including Malaysia and Singapore, this highly sophisticated
technology is based on storage of data/codes on the small chip that
is fixed on the platinum card. Baiduri Bank will be installing the
updated terminals enabling cardmembers to read and process such
cards.
"This is a testimony of our
commitment to invest in advanced technology and infrastructure to
safeguard the interest of our customers and to ensure that they
benefit from the latest security systems and technologies
available," said Pierre Imhof, the general manager of Baiduri Bank,
which also recently won the `Bank of the Year Brunei' award from the
United Kingdom's The Banker Magazine.
Equipped with three major features
- the latest payment security technology, Visa International's vast
global network and Baiduri Bank's key strengths and competitive
advantages in the local market - as leverage, Baiduri aims to gain a
stronger foothold in the card business by providing a set of
incomparable benefits and privileges to the card members.
The prestigious platinum card
targeting VIPs, successful businesspeople and affluent professionals
- offers not only global benefits and services from Visa
International but also exclusive services within Brunei.
"We want to ensure that we have put
together a compelling card offering that matches the distinguished
lifestyle and exquisite tastes of these individuals," Imhof said.
Card members would also enjoy
automatic enrolment in the best rewards programme in town where they
could earn up to five times bonus points from their card purchases
all year around - a feat that had never been done by Baiduri Bank,
added the general manager.
Members are also entitled to
complimentary travel insurance with premium coverage of up to
$500,000.
"This card will certainly
complement the existing range of financial products, services and
value-added benefits that we are offering to our customers," Imhof
said.
After the launching, His Royal
Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior
Minister at the Prime Minister's Office also toured the exhibition
booths that were set-up around the lounge before consenting to sign
