30 from Brunei, Malaysia Attend
Leadership Event

Begawan - Yesterday saw the start of the Brunei segment for a
Leadership Development Programme jointly organised by the Public
Service Institute of the Public Service Department, Brunei
Darussalam, and Institute Tadbir Awam Negara Malaysia (INTAN).
The 30 participants from Brunei and
Malaysia, comprising middle-class management public officers, were
welcomed yesterday by the Director of the Public Service Institute,
Hj Junaidi bin Hj Omar, at the institute.
In his welcoming speech, the
director hoped that the programme will become an annual event for
INTAN and Brunei. The first leg of the programme saw 14 middle-class
management public officers from Brunei go to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
for a two-way learning programme.
Now it is Brunei's turn to host the
Leadership Development Programme, which will proceed till December
16. The programme is aimed at helping participants to develop new
skills in dealing with current challenges and to ensure the skills
acquired remain relevant to the stakeholders and the public.
It helps participants to understand
the ever changing nature of the public service environment and to
enhance their knowledge and skills in achieving organisational
excellence.
The event also provides a platform
for better networking among officers from the public sector of both
countries through exchanging of ideas on the latest development in
the sector and sharing of experience on the modernisation of the
