Bandar Seri
Begawan - Five entrepreneurs from the Sultanate recently
joined 100 small and medium entrepreneurs from Limbang and Lawas
during a workshop held at Hotel Purnama in Limbang.
The one-day workshop aimed at
improving product packaging, designing, labelling and product
naming.
Entrepreneurs Dr Hjh Raiyah Hj Md
Ali, Hjh Kertini OKPSD Abang Hj Abu Hanifah, Hj Juned Hj Ramli, Hjh

Entitled `The Workshop Programme
towards Improving Packaging Design, Labelling and Product Naming as
well as Halal Certification, HCCP and GMP for SMEs", the workshop
was conducted by the Small and Medium Industry Development Economic
Cooperation of Kuching. According to Dr Hjh Rayah, the Limbang

was held in Serdang, West Malaysia, last month.
"We saw the relevant agencies' (in
Malaysia) commitment to help SME entrepreneurs to progress further
in their respective industry.
"We managed to get a few tips from
them in our effort to promote our products and increase
competitiveness in the global marketing arena. "We hope we can apply
them here in our commitment to see our products receive
international acceptance," she added.
Businesswoman Hjh Kertini agrees
with Dr Hjh Rayah, in that local SMEs need to be aided in order to
compete in the global arena.
"Yes, we learnt a few tips at the
Limbang workshop on ways to improve the looks of our products so
they can be strikingly attractive to international consumers," she
said. Among the presented working papers were Processing Principles
(Food Facts) and the Importance of Packaging, Labelling and Naming
of Food Products, Graphic and Design of Product Packaging, Labelling
and Naming, Understanding HCCP and GMP Certifications for Food
Products, and Halal Certification.
