Police Urge Owners To Record Mobile Details To Foil Thefts

Bandar Seri Begawan - Police advised the owners to record their international equipment mobile identity to facilitate local telephone service providers in blocking the phones usage and. SIM cards well as to help the police in jotting down their details in case of phone thefts.

The mobile phone identity has 15 numbers and it can be viewed by pressing certain numbers, the police said in their weekly report yesterday. A mobile phone was among the items stolen, police said.

Last week saw a number of house and car theft cases. Four thefts occurred in Jln 77 in Lambak Kanan national housing scheme, areas around Information Department in Seria, Spg 185 Kg Katok and Singa Menteri barracks in Kuala Belait last week. Items lost were mini-motor, four sports rims with tyres and an aluminium window grille.

Two cars were stolen, a Toyota Starlet in Kg Kapok in Muara, and a Toyota Carina at Mata-Mata mosque car park while another car reported stolen, a white Toyota Corolla, was recovered at a car park in Kg Sungai Kebun. A mini-motorcycle parked at a garage in Kg Lumapas was also reported missing.

Three house break-ins and thefts occurred in Kg Kiarong, Jln Pandan 4 and Kg Kilanas where jewellery and foreign currency notes inserted in an album, $65 and $400, a mobile phone, a contract document, a digital camera and a PDA went missing Another five theft cases inside buildings were reported at a building near Berakas forest reserve, a housing flat in Maktab Duli in Gadong, wet market in Gadong and land clearance area in Kg Tanjong Nangka.

Six air-conditioning compressors, two metals, electrical wiring cables, a weighing scale, Kobelco-brand items, a battery and a hydraulic instrument were reported missing.

Four vandalism cases were recorded, while an alleged assault was carried out by two men in Shahbandar recreational park.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
