'Leaps And Bounds' Marks 2nd Year With The Show
By Tony Alabastro

Bandar Seri Begawan - JD Leaps n Bounds Studio featured The Show, an hour-long pre-ballet, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom and belly dancing inter-connected by a Jester who accidentally opened a giant-, gift-wrapped present, to celebrate its second anniversary in Kuala Belait.

Owner and Managing Director Dorsky organised The Show at the Swiss Hotel on Jalan Pretty, Kuala Belait, "to allow our students a feel of what it is like to performance on stage.

"We had colourful props, costumes and lights, specially for them, and gave them confidence and a chance to showcase their talents in dancing." The non-stop programme, conceptualised by choreographer Christopher Nocon, who played a Jester, started with a ballet number to the tune of `A Spoonful of Sugar.' Japhet and Rachel followed it in a pas de deux to the tune of Beauty and the Beast from the movie of the same title.

Dance instructor and overall choreographer Nocon was a scholar at the Hongkong Academy of Performing Arts, the National Commission for Culture and Arts Philippines, and a University of the East Dance Troupe member, and a guest, choreographer in Canada and Japan.

Assistant choreographer Lilibeth Munar, a scholar at the University of the East Dance Troupe, Centre for.Pop Philippines, and guest choreographer, Barangay Dance Association in Canada, appeared in a solo belly dancing performance, Ojos Esi.

Nocon and Munar combined ballet, jazz and ballroom in a pas de deux to the tune of Time of My Life, from the movie Dance with Me. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
