Gearing Up For Brunei Marathon

Begawan - Preparation works are in full swing at Taman FIaji
Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien to ready the stage, tents and arches
for the second Brunei Marathon 2006 on Sunday.
This year the Brunei Marathon 2006
`Town Track' promises to be just as challenging as the last, with
the race kicking off at Jalan Sultan - next to Taman Haji Sir Muda
Omar Ali Saifuddien.
Participants will move from the
town area towards Jalan Tutong, where they will pass numerous Brunei
landmarks that include the Royal Regalia, the Edinburgh Bridge, the
High Court, and Istana Nurul lman.
At the first u-turn point,
participants would head back to Edinburgh Bridge before making their
way to Kiulap.
They will then make a second u-turn
at the 13 km point at Jalan Kiulap. Then it is off to Jalan Tasek
Lama and Jalan Kebangsaan.
The third u-turn will be at the 27
km point at Jalan Kebangsaan, where runners will head back towards
Bandar Seri Begawan. At the 39 km point, the route will detour. to
the Jalan Kianggeh back road, towards the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs.
For the final 15km, participants
will take the Jalan Residency route towards the town centre.
At this point, runners can enjoy in
a good view of the water village and Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque,
before sprinting to the finish line at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali
