Company Responds To Court Cooling
System Story
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Referring to our story `Sweating it out in Brunei
High Court' published on December 7, Borneo Air Conditioning and
Engineering Sdn Bhd has sent the following response:
"We refer to your article ‘Sweating
it out in Brunei High Court' in BB December 7 by Ignatius Stephen.
Borneo Air Conditioning and
Engineering Sdn Bhd is the air conditioning maintenance contractor
at the above premises since May 2003. We would like to point out the
inaccuracies as reported in the article.
1. The air conditioning plant at
the High Court premises is operating in good condition.
2. The cooling tower has not gone
bust as reported. Otherwise there would be no air conditioning at
the premise for the next few weeks.
3. The Jalan Tutong area around the
High Court was affected by a power failure in the late morning. This
can be verified with the electrical department.
4. The power supply was reinstated
about 12 pm. Unfortunately the air conditioning plant is not able to
provide immediate cool air to the building. The plant requires some
time to start up.
5. Our technician has not been
approached for comments. Neither are they authorised to provide
public comment.
6. As pointed out by your writer,
the previous report some months ago on the air conditioning plant
breakdown was also inaccurately reported.
The only agreeable fact in the
report was the atmosphere .is unbearable in the Courtroom without
air conditioning.
We hope the above clarification
would be published in full as to correct the factual errors
contained in your report. - Collin Cheah General Manager -- Courtesy of Borneo
