SMEs Accounting Discussed

Begawan - The Brunei Institute of Certified Accountants (BICPA
- FTMS) held a one-day seminar on Accounting Standards here
yesterday.
Navzar
Taraporvala, a graduate from London School of Economics, conducted
the seminar where its main emphasis is on the new accounting
standards for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
As a member of the Panel of FTMS
Global Speakers and with his experience as a lecturer and author
specialising in Financial Reporting, Navzar is considered one of the
world's finest technical lecturers in the financial reporting
subjects.
Navzar
has conducted highly-rated Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants (ACCA) courses for international accounting firms and
multinational corporations all over Eastern Europe, the Baltic
States and the Far East Region. "Since Brunei has no set standards
for accounting, this seminar acts as a guideline for participants,"
said Zunaidah Ibrahim, who is the Marketing and Administrative
executive of BICPA - FTMS Accountancy Sdn Bhd.
There were 20 participants at the
seminar representing Ideal Multifeed Sdn Bhd, DST, AIA Insurance,
the Ministry of Finance, and Lee and Raman (an auditing firm). Apart
from dealing with International Accounting Standards( IAS), the
seminar will touch on International. Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
and the changing of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
and recent developments as well as the harmonisation with IAS/IFRS
in Asia.
