Thanksgiving Ceremony For Departing Students

Bandar Seri Begawan - Ten local Form VI students will soon be headed for Singapore to attend the 'Sunburst Youth Camp' from December 10 - 16, while four others will be heading to the Philippines to participate in the `Southeast Asian Children's Conference' from December 10 - 14.

With their scheduled departure date drawing closer, a thanksgiving ceremony was yesterday held at Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan (MSPSBS). The selected students were presented the national flag before representing Brunei Darussalatn at the two events.

Present as guest of honour was Hjh Aishah bte Hj Muhammad Husain, the Acting Director of Schools, Ministry of Education.

In her speech she highlighted that the students were picked based on their outstanding academic performances, responsible attributes, active participation in school activities, and interest in socialising with peers of different races/backgrounds.

The Sunburst Youth Camp programme will see participants attending exhibitions and traditional performances, among others.

This will allow students of different cultures, backgrounds and races the opportunity to interact and gain insights from one another.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian Children's Conference programme will see the students attending performances, exhibitions and a forum highlighting discussions on issues relating to children around the world. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
