Begawan - The 2006-2007 Ministry of Home Affairs Football
Tournament kicked off yesterday afternoon at the Kuala Belait
Municipal football field.
Eleven teams under the ministry are
taking part in the tournament which will run for three months. The
teams are divided into two groups, namely Group A and Group B.
Temburong District Department, Immigration and National Registration
Department, Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, Ministry of
Home Affairs, Labour :.Department and Belait District Department
made up of Group A.
Group B consists of Prisons
Department, a joint team of Tutong District Department and Tutong
Municipal Department, Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department,
Brunei and Muara District Department and Fire Services and Rescue
Department. The top two teams from each group will advance to the
semifinal round. The final will be held on Feb 3.
The guest-of-honour Dato Paduka
Haji Idris bin Haji Belaman, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Home
Affairs officiated the opening ceremony of the tournament and
watched the first match between Temburong- District Department and
Labour Department. Temburong District Department came out top to
beat Labour Department 3-1 in the opening match yesterday.
Also present was the adviser of the
organising committee, Pg Hj Mohd Ali bin Pg Hj Othman, Chairman of
