SR Panglima Barudin Wins Brunei IV
Story Telling

Begawan - Panglima Barudin (Limau Manis) Primary School
emerged as the champion of this year's Story Telling Competition for
Primary Schools in Brunei IV, yesterday. The event was held at
Tanjung Kindana Primary School (SR Tanjung Kindana) in Sungai Bunga.
Ten schools took part in the
competition. The host for the event, SR Tanjung Kindana had
previously been marked as champion twice in the Story Telling
Competitions. SR Tanjung Kindana ended runner-up in this year's
event, while Sekolah Panchor Murai came third. After all the 10
participants presented their stories, the event continued with
singing performances from Kindergarten and Primary 1 pupils.
Before the prizes were presented to
the winners, one of the judges was invited to give their comments on
the overall performances by the participants. She then announced the
champion, the 1st runner-up and the 2"d runner-up for.the Story
Telling Competition 2006.
Yesterday's competition began at
around 9am and lasted for about two hours. The function began with
the recitation of Surah al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Hj Norzlan bin Hj
Sapar, followed by the opening and welcoming speech by the
headmaster of the host school, Cikgu Abdul Rahman bin Hj Awg Mustapa.
In his speech, Cikgu Abd Rahman said that one of the aims of the
competition was to enable the pupils to be able to communicate and
tell their stories fluently and confidently in front of the people.
Three judges from the CfBT Unit
were invited to evaluate the performance and presentation of each
participant.
Most of the competing students
presented their stories interestingly and impressively, with some
using their own props and materials.
The headmaster later presented the
trophies and certificates to the winners and participants as well as
to the judges. The function ended with the recitation of 'Doa
Selamat' read by Ustaz Hj Norzlan bin Hj Sapar.-- Courtesy of Borneo
