Man Gets 9 1/2 years and 12 Lashes For Attempting To Rape Daughter

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 39-year-old man was sentenced to nine years and six months' imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane yesterday after pleading guilty to outraging the modesty of his 13-year-old daughter and two counts of attempted rape.

The defendant, got six months' jail and two strokes for an offence under section 354 of the Penal Code and received nine years' jail and 12 strokes for two offences under section 376 (2) read with section 511 of the Penal Code.

However the judge yesterday ordered the sentences for the attempted rape to run concurrently but consecutively to the sentence of outraging modesty. Deputy Public Prosecutor Dk Norsuzanawati Pg Abas prosecuted.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
