Jail For Foreign Prostitutes

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Chinese nationals were jailed for a month and two weeks by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday for prostitution.

Yuezhen Cui and Hongxia Lang, aged 38 and 37 respectively, came to Brunei on visit passes on December 1.

The defendants were found in the same room at a rest house in the capital entertaining a man when police raided the room two nights ago. Yuezhen was seen naked in the room, while Hongxia was having sexual intercourse with the man.

The defendants admitted that they had agreed to solicit the man for prostitution. They were paid $70 each. A similar case was brought before the courts last Saturday when two women from China, aged in their twenties, were sentenced to jail-for three months after pleading guilty to the offence.

Zhou Li Hua and Qin Jin Hong solicited a man for prostitution in separate rooms at a hotel in the capital on the afternoon of November 23. The defendants were found naked in the rooms. They also came to Brunei on social visit passes. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
