Spruce-Up For Jerudong Park
By Ignatius Stephen
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei's famous Jerudong Park Playground is to get
rid of some of its old and "outdated" rides.
They are to be sold off. New
attractions are to replace them. The Management of Jerudong Park and
Country Club (JPCC) announced yesterday its immediate plans
regarding the Jerudong Park Playground and talked about its "long
term strategy."
It said that since the Playground
was first opened to the public in 1994, it has provided both the
domestic and overseas visitors with a unique entertainment venue in
Brunei.
"With the Playground now 12 years
old, many of the rides are considered outdated and no longer cost
effective to maintain to the necessary safety standards," the
Jerudong Park and Country Club (JPCC) management said.
Many of these rides are also losing
their attractions to the visitors, it added. The management
therefore announced that the immediate plan is to dispose off some
of these rides in the coming months.
"The management is also currently
working on a plan to replace the rides with newer attractions that
would be more in line with the long term strategy of keeping the
playground as one of the landmark attractions in the country," the
announcement said.
"The management would like to thank
the general public for their support over the years and asks for
their patience in the coming months, while the management is
planning its long term strategies for the playground," it added.
