HM Sends Congratulatory Messages
To Thailand

Begawan - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin
Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam sent
congratulatory messages to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on
the occasion of the 79th birthday anniversary of the Thai monarch.
His Majesty also sent a similar
message to Prime Minister General Surayud Chulanont of Thailand. In
the message, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm
and friendly relations and deep understanding between Brunei
Darussalam and Thailand at the bilateral level and in the Asean,
regional and international fora, and hoped that this relationship
would be maintained and further enhanced in the future for the good
of the two countries and people.
The monarch also wished that both
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Thai Prime Minister
would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people
of Thailand to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness
Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has
also sent a similar congratulatory message to his Thai counterpart
His Excellency Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Thailand.
His Royal Highness offered his
respects to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Royal
Family, as well as his congratulations to the Foreign Minister, the
government and people of Thailand on their monarch's birthday
anniversary. In his message, His Royal Highness also wished his
counterpart success in his future post and looks forward to
strengthening bilateral relations as well as the Asean partnership.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej ascended
the Thai throne on June 9, 1946, making him the world's longest
reigning monarch. Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan also
presented the monarch with Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in
Rural Development in 2006, which, according to the UN citation, was
because the King has made an extraordinary contribution to human
development, reaching out to the poorest and the most vulnerable
