His Majesty also sent a similar message to Prime Minister General Surayud Chulanont of Thailand. In the message, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding between Brunei Darussalam and Thailand at the bilateral level and in the Asean, regional and international fora, and hoped that this relationship would be maintained and further enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and people.

The monarch also wished that both His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Thai Prime Minister would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of Thailand to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has also sent a similar congratulatory message to his Thai counterpart His Excellency Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
