Thieves Run Away With $6,000 Cash,
Jewellery

Begawan - Three cases of unpaid wages, two nuisance short
message services (sms), one case of wife allegedly being hit by her
husband and two misuse of work quota cases were reported last week,
the police said yesterday.
They also recorded one case of
insurance claim, one case of "demanding cash deposit outside of
Brunei", one dissatisfaction case and one "misappropriation of
telephone line credit".
Three thefts inside buildings
leading to the collective loss of a mobile phone, petty cash box
containing B$6,000, jewellery including one gold necklace, seven
rings, one pendant and two gold bangles, a gas cylinder and five
holy Quranic verses frames were also recorded.
The thefts reportedly took place at
the Sultan Hassan Primary School, Spg 42 in Kg Bengkurong and Spg
74-5928 in Kg Mata-Mata. Following the incidents, the Police advised
the public to inform them of anyone who acts suspiciously in their
surroundings especially late at night.
One criminal breach of thrust was
also recorded leading to an investigation being made on a hospital
staff member. Two vandalism cases, four assaults, seven cases of
runaway employees, 12 arrest warrant cases involving 12 indebted
persons and five arrest warrants of locals aged between 30-40 years
old involved in five theft cases were also recorded. The arrests led
to the retrieval of the stolen items.
One customs case, five immigration
related offences leading to four arrests and three misuse of drugs
cases involving three arrests were also reported.
Meanwhile 24 car accidents were
recorded, including 13 self-accidents resulting in one minor injury.
The Police meanwhile are implementing new strategies in monitoring
areas prone to heavy traffic to smoothen flow especially during rush
