Dressing Down For Charity
By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - When Sheraton Utama Hotel associates were told they
could go to work in casual attire by paying $5 each to the Starwood
Associates Relief Fund, a large number of them jumped at the chance.
Starwood
Associates Relief Fund, which is a global Starwood hotels and
resorts initiative, is an ongoing campaign that provides Starwood
associates who may face unexpected hardship due to situations or
events outside their control. Sheraton Utama Hotel has pledged to
assist in collecting funds from its associates for the charity.
The campaign, which ends on
December 2, has so far been well-received. Praises have also been
flooding in from in-house guests who were impressed with the hotel's
efforts to raise money for the relief fund. A number of activities
have been organised for the campaign including "Star Finder" where
two representatives from each department are sent to search for
hidden stars, which have been pledged with monetary value by heads
of departments. Associates who are car owners are also entitled to a
car wash at $3, organised by a team fromthe Sheraton Sports and
Social Club.
There will be a charity bazaar
tomorrow at the hotel from 10 am until 2 pm. Items on sales are
contributed by associates of the hotel, and all proceeds will go to
the Starwood Associates Relief Fund.-- Courtesy of Borneo
