Cultural Show At Liang Lumut Recreational Club

Bandar Seri Begawan - A cultural show in conjunction with the closing of SM PAP Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah this year took place yesterday at Liang Lumut Recreational Club.

It is part of a programme called "Cultural Mission" in cooperation with the Arts and Culture Section of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to give a clear illustration of the local culture through dance, music, songs and other art forms, with traditional costumes.

Yesterday's event heard speeches from Principal Abd Khalid Hj Mahmood and Mohd Amin Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Sirat, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who highlighted the need to expose traditional dance, music and songs to the younger generation.

Using traditional instruments for music, guests were entertained by performances of songs like Lela Mencanai and Tipa, as well as the Dindang Didindang/Selindang Kipas, Adai Adai, Jong Sarat and Jodge Pramidaya dances among others.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
