Brunei’s Car Population Hits Record

Bandar Seri Begawan - It is estimated that there are more than 100 000 f cars on Brunei's road today.

Thus making an average of one, car for every 3.5 person. According to the Brunei Auto Trader Association or BATA, the automobile sales up to last month, has surpassed the total figure in last year of 13 200 to 13 553 units.

That is a slight increase of more than 3 percent. However, the increase in not as significant as the increase of sales in 2004 as compared to the year before.

The strongest sales performance so far was in March and October this year with 1 407 and 1 402 units.

This was partly due to promotional sales and purchase without deposits. November, however recorded the lowest figure with one thousand 8 units.

The highest registration so far was recorded in 1997 with a total of 14 299 units and the lowest was 6 189 cars in 2000.  -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
