More Than Just Watermelons

Bandar Seri Begawan – Kg telisai, situated between the border of Tutong district and Belait district, is famous for its watermelon production. But Kg Telisai has much more to offer than just watermelons.

The Telisai Recreational Park, which is situated along the beautiful Telisai beach, is a great area for a family picnic or weekend getaway. Greeting visitors to the park is a huge watermelon with a welcome sign.

Facilities such as rest huts, barbeque pits, toilets, a playground and viewing tower are provide at the park. There is also a large field for outdoor activities.

The park was recently used for the PSR Motivation Camp for Tutong II primary school pupils, organised by Tumpuan Telisai Primary School.

An interesting feature of the park is the "Telisai Tree", from which the village is believed to have derived its name, as these trees can only be found here, in Kg Telisai. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
