Draft Three-Yearaction Plan
Formulated At Isesco Meeting In Morocco

recently attended the 26" Session of the Executive Council of the
Islamic, Educational and Scientific Organisation (ISESCO) in Rabat,
Morocco after attending the Second Meeting of the Secretaries General
of the National Commissions for Education, Science and Culture, and
the Officials in charge of the Competent Authorities in the Member
States of ISESCO.
During the 26"' Executive Council
Session, the Draft Three-Year Action Plan and Budget for the Years
20072009, the Draft Amendment to ISESCO's Charter, Rules of Procedure
of the General Conference, Rules ofProcedure of the Executive Council,
and the Observer Status Regulations were endorsed, with the reports
from the assembly to be forwarded for adoption by the forthcoming
session of General Conference of ISESCO in 2006.
The Draft Three-Year Action Plan and
Budget for the Years 2007-2009 is aimed at achieving four strategies
objectives, namely development of the educational system, promoting
scientific research, activating cultural action in member states and
contributing to bridging the digital divide between member states and
developed countries.
Meanwhile, the Second Meeting of the
Secretaries General of the National Commissions for Education, Science
and Culture, and the officials in charge of the Competent Authorities
in the Member States of ISESCO aims to strength partnership and
cooperation relations between ISESCO National Commissions and
competent authorities in the member states, and seek to develop the
mechanisms of communication, coordination and consultation between the
two parties.
Brunei Darussalam itself joined
ISESCO on September 1,1985, and since then has sent officials from the
Sultanate to participate in conferences, seminars and training
programmes conducted by the organisation. This year, an official of
the Permanent Secretary's Office of the Ministry of Education attended
the Regional Training Session for Staff of National Commissions and
Focal Points in English Speaking ISESCO Member States, held in Tehran,
Iran and in September the Acting Director of Institut Teknologi Brunei
represented Brunei Darussalam in the ISESCO regional Experts' Meeting
on Technical and Vocational Education in Islamabad, Pakistan. Brunei
Darussalam has also hosted several regional and national programmes of
ISESCO, with Brunei previously hosting the Training Session for Arabic
Language Trainers at Primary School Level, which was held from August
8 to 13 earlier this year. --
