Royalty At Brunei Shell Ladies
Celebration

Begawan – Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha attended a
Brunei Shell Ladies Association celebration at the Indera Kayangan
Ballroom, of the Empire Hotel and Country Club yesterday.
The celebration was Brunei Shell
Ladies Accociation's 3' anniversarycum- 'Ramah Mesra'. Accompanying
Her Majesty were HRH Paduka Seri Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah, HRH Pg
Anak Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Zariah, HRH Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul
Bolkiah and HRH Princess Hjh Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah.
A majority of the attendees were from
various women's asso-ciations, wives of senior government officials
among others.
The celebration had traditional
dances, vocal performances such as `Can't Take My Eyes Off You' among
others.
There were also rich varieties of
fashion showcased which exquisitely blended contemporary concepts with
traditional Muslim styles.
The fashions were the work of three
local designers with models on the catwalk.
The association led since 2003 by
Datin Paduka Hjh Hayati bte POKSDSP Hj Md Salleh, President of the
Brunei Shell Ladies Association, included monetary contributions to
charity and humanitarian funds here and abroad, motivational seminars
aimed at character building of youths, Labi Cleaning Campaign, OGDC
Charity Bazaar among many others.
In her keynote address, Datin Paduka
Hjh Hayati said that the association has succeeded in capturing the
interest of the women's community to showcase their commodities via
the association's charity sale, to spur entrepreneurship and business
activities among women in the nation, in line with His Majesty, the
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan's objective to expand SME activities. She
also added that the association was committed to hold talks and
seminars relating to women and children issues to provide a platform
of forum for discussions, advancement of one's knowledge and
professionalism among women and the younger generation.
Her Majesty also launched the Brunei
Shell Ladies Association's 3 d Anniversary Exhibition which showcased
various posters themed ` Memory Lane' relating to the association's
activities and achievements. In addition, exquisite decor of ostrich,
emu and chicken eggs produced by members of the association, and
fashion accessories and jewellery sported by models during the fashion
show were also displayed at the exhibition.
A sumptuous spread of delicacies and
sweet treats were served, enhanced by a constant ambience of singing,
dances and fashion showcases. Later on Her Majesty and the rest of the
royal family were led on a tour of the exhibition. A group photo
session with the royal members ensued.
About 200 invitees took part in the
regal event, including top members from the nation's women
associations, spouses of senior government officials and members of
the Brunei Shell Ladies Association. --
