Call To Improve Sg Liang Recreational Park Facilities

Bandar Seri Begawan – Sungai Liang Recreational Park is one of the popular recreational parks found in the Belait District.

Situated at the Sungai Liang beach, it is a beautiful natural resort with sandy beaches, an ideal place for families and organisations to organise outdoor activities and gatherings.

The park is a popular destination in the district for holiday makers to relax and spend quality time with the loved ones. Big crowds can be seen flocking to the park especially during school holidays and over weekends. They include local residents as well as foreign tourists.

Visitors to the park are allowed to carry out various recreational activities such as fishing at the river in the park. There is a "tamu" or open market where the local residents sell vegetables and other jungle produce to visitors and tourists coming to the park.

Among the facilities found in the park are a resting hut and a court for basketball and volleyball. However, some of the park facilities are old and need to be repaired to ensure the safety of the public members who visit the park. One of the facilities which need immediate attention is the wooden bridge built across the river in the park, which is in a very sad condition.

The authority concerned is urged to improve the park facilities by carrying out the necessary repair works not only to give the park a facelift but also to ensure the safety of the public members who frequent the park. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
