Brunei One Of 3 Asean Countries
With 3G

Sdn Bhd, is one of 42 countries in the world that has embraced the
latest mobile phone innovation, also known as 3G.
According to a new survey by Global
Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), 3G/WCDMA services are currently
available in Brunei Darussalam, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium,
Croatia, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan,
Korea, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Mauritius, Netherlands, New Zealand,
Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa,
Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Taj ikistan, UAE, UK and USA.
Within the ten-member Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, only Brunei Darussalarn,
Malaysia and Singapore have embraced this latest technology.
GSA reported that six 3G/WCDMA
networks have launched commercial services so far this month, pushing
the total number to 100 networks in 42 countries.
This compares with 60 commercial
networks in 28 countries at the end of 2004, underlining WCDMA as the
leading 3G mobile communications system.
Over two-thirds of the WCDMA license
holders worldwide have launched 3G services, demonstrating the
maturity of the technology and global market leadership.
WCDMA
networks today are serving over 40 million subscribers, an increase of
140 per cent since the end of 2004, achieving an average monthly
growth exceeding 2.1 million subscribers.
Forty WCDMA networks have launched
commercial service in 2005 including b.mobile, which were over 80 per
cent of all 3G networks launched.
B.mobile
Communication Sdn Bhd is a joint venture company between Telekom
Brunei Berhad (TelBru) and QAF Comserve.
Granted the licence in February 2005,
b.mobile is Brunei's first 3G mobile phone service, utilising WCDMA
technology. --
