BLNG Says Thank You Local Media

Begawan – The Brunei Liquified Natural Gas Sdn Bhd or BLNG is
trying to be more transparent as it is part of the way of life of the
Brunei society, said BLNG Managing Director Fred Smeenk at the
Appreciation Day for the media.
Also present at the function' held
yesterday afternoon in Jerudong were members_ of the BLNG management
team.
The event was aimed at introducing
the new management members to local media and at the same time to show
appreciation for the continuous coverage by both government and
private media, electronic or print, on BLNG's activities throughout
the year.
In his welcoming speech, Mr Fred
Smeenk thanked the media for the extensive coverage of the Main
Cryogenic Heat Exchange (MCHE) transportation ad replacement project
and the Liang Lumut Recreation Club (LLRC) opening ceremony officiated
by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Pg Muda Hj AI-Muhtadee Billah.
He said BLNG wants the public to know
what the company is doing. In this respect, he said the media plays an
extremely important role and without the media, it will be difficult
for the company to convey messages to the public.
He said BLNG also promotes local
business developments through the award of contracts to local
companies.
At the function, BLNG presented a
donation of $15,000 to the Pg Muda AlMuhtadee Billah fund for the
orphans.
The contribution was handed over by
Fred Smeenk to Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim bin Hj Daud, Chief Executive
Officer of the Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation.
BLNG
also donated $5,000 to the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council. Fred Smeenk
handed over the donation to Datin Paduka Hjh Rokiah Hj Zakiah, Vice
President of the council.
Among the media representatives at
the function were from Radio Television Brunei, Information
Department, Borneo Bulletin, Media Permata, United Daily, See Hua
Daily, Sin Chiew Jit Pow, International Times and Brudirect. --
