PPPMB Elects New President
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Some 50 members of Federation of Brunei Malay
Entrepreneurs (PPPMB) elected a new president to replace their
incumbent leader Dr Hj Abdul Latif Chuchu who opted out of the post to
enter politics in an emergency meeting held at the Royal Brunei Golf
Club in Berakas yesterday morning. Pg Shahminan Pg Hj Ismail narrowly
beat Hj Hambali Hj Tengah by one vote to win the right to lead the
federation until the next annual general election which will be held
in about three years from now.
In his outgoing address before the
election of the new president, Dr Hj Abdul Latif called for the to-be
elected leader to work hard towards the success of the federation
which can be translated as a major accomplishment for the Malay
business community.
He also called for the presidential
candidates to be members of only one business organisation so the
elected leader could concentrate to work hard for PPPMB.
"1 know a few candidates for the
president also hold various posts in other business organisations."
