Brunei Does Well In Borneo Games

Begawan - The Borneo Games in Sabah ended last night. Brunei's
contingent participated in ten out of eleven events in the festival,
and collected seven gold medals, with sepak takraw contributing one to
the medal tally.
The gold medal in sepak takraw was
won in the inter-regu 'A '. Brunei was represented by Supian Timbang,
Hj Asrin Hj Ahmad and Jamaluddin Hi Marzi who defeated host Sabah.
Prizes were presented by the Minister
of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri
dewa Mejar Jeneral Bersara. Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohamed.
Brunei's athletes also won several
medals in the track and field events. A silver medal was obtained
through the women's four by four hunded metres relay.
The men's four times four hundred
metres relay also won silver medal. Another silver medal was gained
through football. In the final against Sabah, Brunei only required a
tie to take the gold medal. However, Brunei's hope was dashed when the
squad was defeated by Sabah 3-2. --
