State Mufti Launches Adat Korban Seminar At ICC

Bandar Seri Begawan – The State Mufti, Pehin Dato Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Abd Aziz Juned, officially launched a seminar on Ibadat Korban yesterday at the ICC in Berakas.

It was organised by the State Mufti's Office to enlighten its participants on the act of Korban or sacrifice during Aidiladha.

This is a religious rite performed by able Muslims on specific days in the Islamic calendar, when livestock such as goats, sheep, cows, bulls, buffaloes or camels are slaughtered and distributed to the poor, as well as relatives and friends of the performer, for consumption.

In his address, the State Mufti spoke of how the event cannot be measured in terms of monetary value or the number of animals sacrificed. The guest of honour also highlighted the importance of the sacrificial act, which still applies today.

The seminar saw several working papers delivered on various related topics by senior officers from the State Mufti's Office, including Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Suhaili Hj Mohiddin, who talked about the act of Korban and its benefits.
