Call To Reduce Car Accidents

Bandar Seri Begawan – Road accidents are almost a daily occurrence these days in every corner of the country, especially at the end of the year, December, which is the rainy season. The number of accidents and casualties have increased as well as the number of fatalities.

Drivers who have been involved in accidents would probably have learned from the mistakes.

One of the causes of accident is the condition of the vehicle, which is not road-worthy. It is the owner's responsibility to keep the vehicle in good condition at all times.

One other cause is the attitude of road users. They should know when to overtake and when not to do so. They should also be aware of the speed allowed at different parts of the road.

To prevent the rise in the number of accidents, some drivers suggested that the relevant authorities should have frequent patrolling by traffic police and installing cameras at strategic locations to catch reckless drivers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
