Megamas Now A Chartered IOSH
Centre
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd has recently
successfully completed the 4", NEBOSH International Certificate course
which was held from Dec 5 to 16. Participants comprised personnel from
the Ministry of Defence, Shell Sarawak Berhad (Miri), Brunei Shell
contractors and from Malaysia and Singapore.
This course offered the successful
participants - in addition to an excellent basic knowledge and
awareness of all health and safety issues - the opportunity to be
acknowledged as Technician JOSH - which is the commencement of a
career in health and safety to full Chartered memberships of the
Institution of Occupational Health and Safety, (JOSH), namely C.MIOSH.
JOSH has received a high milestone in
the recognition of its profession by being accorded with the
"Chartered" status. Megamas, in Brunei Darussalam, was the first
training provider to conduct this course in the Southeast Asian
region. Megamas has also become an JOSH Centre.
Founded in 1945, the Institution of
Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is committed to promoting
protection from workplace hazards at every level, and works to advance
the health, safety and welfare of people at work, and those affected
by work activities.
According to the General Manager of
Megamas, Mr RogerAinsworth, "As membership of JOSH is conditional on
regular international independent inspection, it will help us to raise
our standard further by identifying areas for development. We are
proud that this has all been achieved with a strong Bruneian
background as Megamas employs 85 per cent of local staff." --
