Meeting On Sultan’s 60th B’day Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan – The National Committee for the 60"' birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held its meeting yesterday morning at the Lapau in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The meeting began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato Awang Haji Yussof bin Haji Ismail.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Adanan, in his capacity as the chairperson of the national committee chaired the first meeting.

Present at the meeting were the deputy chairpersons of the national committee, namely Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Anak Haji Abdul Aziz, chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, and Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Dani, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

Among the issues discussed included the election of a patron and advisor of the committee as well as determining the dates, formats and places for His Majesty's visit in the four districts.

Other topics discussed were the construction and putting up of congratulatory arches, flags, decorative lights and decorations, National Day's flag hoisting ceremony at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah complex, as well as a song contest for the birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
