Army Personnel Fined For Failing To Pay Maid

Bandar Seri Begawan – The Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday imposed a $2,100 fine on an army personnel after the defendant pleaded guilty to seven charges of failing to pay his maid's wages.

Taha bin Haji Jamudin settled the fine and compensated $1,400 in wages to his maid.

According to Labour Prosecuting Officer Ibrahim Haji Sawal, the defendant failed to pay the 37-yearold Indonesian maid from September 2003 to February 2004, and in the month of May 2004. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
