JTB Officers Attend Briefing On Emergency Fire Plan

The B Command Brunei Fire Services recently held a briefing on
guidelines of emergency fire plan for officers at the Belait District
Telecommunications Department (JTB) with the objectives of educating
them on safety and effective evacuation of occupants in the event of
an emergency as well as to get occupants to react rationally when
confronted with a fire or other emergencies in the premises.
The briefing held at the Belait JTB
headquarters was presented by public relations officer of B Command
Brunei Fire Services Mohd Tahabin Bakar.
The scope of the briefing included
pre-fire drill actions, procedures for a fire drill or outbreak of
fire, and a questionand-answer session.
Mohd 'l'aha
noted that pre-fire drill actions included fire extinguishers,
internal fire fighting team, sounding of alarm, frequency of a fire
drill, evacuation routes and records of fire drills.
"It is also vital that fire fighting
equipment are properly maintained and in serviceable condition," he
said.
He added that "fire drills should be
held at least once every six months to familiarise all occupants with
the correct procedures to evacuate the premises in an orderly manner".
All premises, he said, should also
display plans showing evacuation routes at several strategic
locations.
Later, a fire extinguishing
demonstration was held at the vicinity of the office which included an
unexpected fire drill to test the evacuation skills of participants.
